Overview
Las Cascadas translates to “The Waterfalls”, named aptly for the man made waterfall the flows into the spacious pool. The villa sits on a prime location directly overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea. A new oceanside terrace with a shaded hammock, sun loungers, dining table, seating and a shade palapa, has stone stairs leading to a private beach area. If you are lucky enough to be there during Turtle nesting season, you may get the thrill of a lifetime seeing a female lay her eggs at night. As always, snorkeling in this area can be wonderful.
Cascadas is a Spanish style Hacienda home with old world furnishings and the feel of real Mexico. The ocean views from all areas of the villa are amazing. To the east is the Caribbean Sea and on the west side is open jungle with tons of birds and wildlife. The second floor courtyard with hammock and balcony overlook the ocean and a rooftop observation deck with a built-in couch and table is a terrific spot for morning coffee, sunset cocktails or nighttime star gazing.
The main floor has 2 bedrooms, both with king-size beds ensuite bathrooms, ample closet space and ocean views. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, utensils, plates, glasses, flatware; home away from home! A large, comfortable dining room adjacent to the kitchen is a wonderful gathering spot for those special dinners. Stepping through a grand, brick lined archway, you will find the living room with a sweeping view of the ocean. The villa has wonderful brick and tile work throughout all the interior rooms as well as local artwork.
The upstairs floor has two more bedrooms separated by an exterior courtyard with a lovely garden. The ocean view master bedroom has a king-size bed, sitting area with sofa bed and a private bathroom with shower. The ocean view guest upstairs bedroom has a queen-size bed, a single bed and private bathroom with shower. All of the bedrooms in the villa are air conditioned and have private balconies.
The villa is “bookended” by two bays, Akumal, about 300 yards to the south, and Half Moon, about a 10 minute walk to the north. See our maps for more information. Akumal has shopping, restaurants, small grocery stores, a kid’s club, dive shops, a money exchange and a health club. Akumal is a wonderful town that will stay in your memory long after you leave.
* Pool is on backside of house, not oceanfront.
Maid service Monday-Saturday.
