Our emphasis at Sol Maya encompasses three distinctly different areas on the Mayan Riviera – Puerto Aventuras, a beautiful, gated, beach/golf/marina community, Akumal, an old school beach town, and the cosmopolitan beach-side city of Playa Del Carmen. We will work diligently with you to find the right rental for your vacation. If you don’t see what you want on our website or are having trouble finding properties available during your dates, not to worry – we have access to any and all rental properties along the Mayan Riviera. We have vetted new properties, providing custom feedback to our clients. Sol Maya offers a full array of concierge services including the arrangement of ground transportation, pre-arrival grocery stock, chef services, child care, tee times, massages, tours, excursions, and more.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Sol Maya Vacation Rentals was born out of our love for the Riviera Maya and a desire to change careers. While living in sunny Boulder, Colorado, we were approached by a friend (who was building a development in Puerto Aventuras) about moving down here to work. Lisa and I had both been in the service industry for over 25 years. I, as a classically-trained chef/restaurant owner, and she in wholesale wine sales and as a restaurant manager/owner. The logic for our move was simple, we loved Mexico (we married in Cabo San Lucas) and wanted to be near the ocean again. In the fall of 2007, we took the plunge and packed up our worldly belongings, loaded the truck and trailer, and made the drive with our two dogs, Tango and Lola, to the Caribbean coast.

We could not be happier that we had the opportunity to live for 14 years in an area that we and many others refer to as paradise. We met wonderful people from around the globe, and best of all, help our customers find that perfect spot in the sun for a great vacation. In 2021 we moved back to the  United States to be closer to family and friends, but we are, of course, still doing Vacation Rentals. We at Sol Maya always keep up-to-date with the properties we manage and rent. Our properties are all well-maintained, clean, comfortable, and are represented truthfully on our website. There are no surprises – the photos, and descriptions are accurate.

To provide the best customer service, we answer all email inquiries promptly and we answer our phone. All our vacation rental financial transactions are made securely through our business office in Boulder, Colorado.

Sol Maya has welcomed a large number of guests to this wonderful area of Mexico over the years, many of which in turn become repeat visitors and have referred us to friends and family. We really love what we do and we think it shows.
